OSG Software version 3.0.8 has been released

We're pleased to announced OSG Software version 3.0.8. This is the new OSG

Software distributed via RPMs for Scientific Linux 5, CentOS 5, and Red

Hat Enterprise Linux 5. This release also includes the worker node

client packages for Scientific Linux 6, CentOS 6, and Red Hat Enterprise

Linux 6.

The RHEL 5-compatible packages have the following changes:

1. The Oracle JDK has been updated to version 1.6.0_31. *Note:* This

version fixes critical security flaws and we recommend upgrading

to it as soon as you can.

2. glite-ce-monitor, osg-configure, osg-cert-scripts, rsv-consumer

bugfixes.

3. gratia-probes bugfixes for PBS and Condor probes; can be

started/stopped as a service.

4. More logging has been added to osg-system-profiler.

5. glideinwms packages have been upgraded to 2.5.5.

Release notes and pointers to documentation can be found at:

https://twiki.grid.iu.edu/bin/view/Documentation/Release3/Release308

Also, we have found a critical bug in the

globus-gram-job-manager-13.14-1.2.osg.el5 package that was distributed

as part of the previous release. We do not have a fix ready yet, so we

currently recommend that if you have that version of the package (which

you can verify by typing "rpm -q globus-gram-job-manager" and comparing

the versions), that you downgrade to the previous version of that

package by typing "yum downgrade globus-gram-job-manager". The highest

working version is 13.5-14.osg.

You can ask support via the usual channels. We look forward to your

feedback on this new release.

OSG Home Pages Moved

During today's Operational Service upgrade the OSG Home page was moved from it's location on an externally hosted web server to the OSG TWiki. The address www.opensciencegrid.org now resolves to it's new home on the OSG TWiki. We are aware this site is currently showing warnings due to the certificate name (twiki.grid.iu.edu) being aliased to www.opensciencegrid.org. We will correct this with a new certificate within the next few business days. Please send mail to goc@opensciencegrid.org to report any other issues you observe due to this change.

We will be installing updated packages from the OS provider on all physical and virtual hosts, including updates to the kernel. There will be downtime during the day for most services, but in most cases it should not be more than 15 minutes. In the case of the CEMon-BDII aggregator service, we will use the DNS round-robin to shift traffic away from the server undergoing maintenance, so no downtime is required, but there may be some degradation of service during this time.

Ticket Exchange Attachment Interface Unavailable

OSG Operations has discovered a problem with file attachments to tickets originating at GGUS. This problem was introduced during a recent update to the GGUS ticketing system which caused an inability to access the SOAP attachment interface. Support tickets have been opened at (https://ticket.grid.iu.edu/goc/11560 and https://ggus.eu/ws/ticket_info.php?ticket=78844) and direct communication with GGUS developers has been initiated. This only affects file attachments to tickets, all other ticket exchange functionality is normal.
